来自 纽约时报, a follow-up article expanding upon a point I made 上星期 that recent genetic ancestry tests upon descendants of Warren Harding didn’t find any support for the rumor spread by Democrats in 1920 that the GOP nominee was part black:

DNA Shows Warren Harding Wasn’t America’s First Black President

By PETER BAKER

The tests found “no detectable genetic signatures of sub-Saharan African heritage in any of the three cousins,” said Julie Granka, a population geneticist at AncestryDNA. As a result, she said, “it is very unlikely,” meaning less than a 5 percent chance, that Harding had a black ancestor within four generations, meaning great-great-grandparents.

“However,” she added, “the analysis does not rule out the possibility that Harding still could have a more distant ancestor from sub-Saharan Africa.”

You have 16 great-great-grandparents and 32 great-great-great-grandparents. So I think what they are saying is that it’s highly unlikely that one of Harding’s 16 great-great-grandparents was 100% sub-Saharan. Further back than that, well, there’s no evidence of any black ancestry, but the odds against any currently measurable trace of black ancestry being lost due to genetic reshuffling of the deck is less overwhelming.

Harding’s 32 great-great-great-grandparents were probably mostly born in the early to mid-18th Century, largely on the East Coast or abroad rather than in the future state of Ohio.

My rule of thumb is that where there is smoke, maybe there is a possibility of fire. If a bunch of people go to the trouble of telling you a rumor, maybe you shouldn’t dismiss it completely.

On the other hand, political bias and a lot of other reasons can cause people to get off track, as we saw with Donald Trump’s obsession a few years ago with Barack Obama’s birth certificate. It was always pretty obvious that if Obama’s mother was in Hawaii in late 1960, she probably wasn’t in some foreign country when he was born in 1961, especially not Kenya which is a long, long way from Hawaii.

With Harding, it’s worth noting that a lot of our customary political biases, such as that Warren G. Harding was the Worst President Ever, are inherited unwittingly from now unfashionable historians affiliated with the Democratic Party, such as the Schlesingers and Samuel Eliot Morison, who tried to combine what now seem like discordant views, such as Progressivism and a desire to keep Southern whites happy and in the Democratic Party.

In retrospect, the country appears to have undergone a whole series of nervous breakdowns during the second term of Woodrow Wilson (1917-1921). Objectively, Harding’s brief term before his sudden death (1921-1923) appears to have, indeed, put the country on the road to “normalcy” just like promised, but the 重要 thing, as we’ve all been taught, is that “normalcy” isn’t a real word. So who cares about peace and prosperity, what matter is spelling.

Also, “Gamaliel” is a funny middle name.

    Pushkin Still Not Very Black

At my sophomoric level, "Gannibal the Cannibal" is funny. Memory served to remind that JD wrote something about translations of Pushkin's Eugene Onegin. Abram Petrovic Gannibal was, of course, the great-grandfather of Pushkin, as well as the subject of a book by the latter, "Peter the Great's Negro."

Not sure what to do with the fact that "Onegin" rhymes with "Reagan" and like my former classmate at TR Roosevelt High School, Jim Janos aka Jesse "The Body" Ventura, something like that star of "Predator," "I ain't got time to" rhyme other than -

  2. “Gamliel” is a rare and, today, funny sounding name. But in the book of Acts of the Apostles, Gamaliel was a wise, level-headed Jewish judge who turned St. Paul loose when he was charged with blasphemy.

St. Paul was charged with making messianic claims about Jesus. Gamaliel noted that there had always been LOTS of self-proclaimed messiahs in Palestine, and that the frauds and charlatans never amounted to a hill of beans in the end. So, he ordered that Paul be released, saying that if Paul was sincerely doing God’s work, no one should have any quarrel with him. And if he was a fruitcake or con artist like the others before him, he’d self-destruct soon enough anyway.

Unusual name, but Gamaliel was an admirable gent.

  3. The “worst president” claim never made any sense whatever. Even if Harding more personally implicated in both the Teapot Dome and Veterans scandals (and not even the most biased historian thinks he was), how can anyone claim he hurt the nation one-tenth as much as Pierce or Buchanan, who helped to make a bloody civil war all but inevitable?

There were also some real accomplishments of his Administration: formally ending the state of war with the Central Powers, arms limitations at the Washington Conference (those who criticize it do not take into account that the American public was just not prepared for the costs of a naval arms race), the creation of a Bureau of the Budget n/k/a OMB (previously all the departments had just submitted their own estimates of their needed expenditures with no attempt at coordination), pardoning Debs and other political prisoners etc. And if the cabinet had cronies like Dougherty in it, it also contained men of great ability like Hughes and Hoover.

  4. it’s worth noting that a lot of our customary political biases, such as that Warren G. Harding was the Worst President Ever, are inherited unwittingly from now unfashionable historians

Considering recent occupants of the office, it seems silly to give pay attention to the opinions of the historians of 50 years ago when they had no idea how low the standards would eventually fall. Don’t the scandals of the Grant administration look like small potatoes compared to those of the Clintons?

  5. Gamaliel is president in Ada, a choice Nabokov seems to have made solely due to the exotic sound of the name.

  6. I bet if you go back far enough, there is some African blood. Say, back to the Olduvai Gorge.

  7. Apropos your comments about the controversy over Barak Obama’s birth certificate, I’d just like to remind you and your readers of the following: While that controversy was still bubbling away, the new governor-elect of Hawaii, a Democrat and political ally of Obama, announced that one of his first acts after taking his oath of office would be to track down Obama’s birth certificate and put an end to all the silly rumors. At the time this was front page news across the country. When called on this months later, Hawaii’s new governor was forced to make an embarassed statement to the effect that he was having trouble accessing the document but as soon as he did so he’d settle the issue. After that a dead silence reigned. Months later Obama published a clearly photo-shopped version of his official Hawaiian birth certificate on the internet along with an announcement that this should put an end to the issue.

My graduate education involved a specialty in demography and my Ph.D. concerned US fertility. In addition I had a brief interlude as an actuarial trainee prior to graduate school. I am quite familiar with this country’s birth registration system(s). I know for an absolute fact that birth certificates are not difficult to track down.

In this country, as a matter of law and for a variety of obvious legal reasons, e.g., determining inheritance and birth priority, births are registered as lines in an essentially unalterable form, in volumes that officially record births in calendar order and provide a link to official birth records. I understand that in Hawaii, pre-statehood, there were complications but these had all been resolved by the time Obama was born. There is clearly something fishy going on here. Certain oddities with Obama’s Social Security Number also suggest something unusual is going on. Like so many aspects of Mr. Obama’s existence there has been no concerted effort to investigate exactly what is going on. Attempts to bring the matter to the public’s attention, e.g., by Sheriff Arpaio, are ignored. Any informed, thoughtful person should be suspicious.

Under a previous ISteve article, titled "Obama: The Indonesian Connection", I posted a series of comments about the birth certificate and the Subud religion.

    Here's a taste:

In the following days, Abercrombie was interviewed by the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and by CNN. In those interviews, he promised to resolve the public’s concerns about President Obama’s birth certificate. ...

    [……]

Barak Obama could be the bastard child of George H. W. Bush and Madame Mao; it would not matter, the Left would love him. Clinton demonstrated that screwing a catatonic Bonobo does not diminish the reverence in which the Left holds him.

If Barack were a zombie gnawing on the skulls of unwitting visitors to the White House the Left would lionize him as a "futuristic, forward-thinking visionary, misrepresented and misunderstood" and the victims would be marginalized, disparaged or ignored.

We are faced with opponents impervious to reason, devoid of human perspective beyond the mind-numbed echo chamber of the Left, emotionally invested in lies and vicious in their reactionary responses. "You won't bake my cake? I will not only take your means of making an honest living baking, I'll take your house too."

But their assumption is that their treasonous perfidy is cost free. The French aristocrats of the eighteen century entertained the same illusion.

  8. Gamaliel is right up there with Milhous.

For a while, I entertained the idea that Stanley Ann Dunham traveled to Canada to give birth. I wrote an article titled “Was Barack Obama Born in Canada?” which was published by 兰特堡 七月5,2008。

    http://www.rantburg.com/index.php?D=07/05/2008&HC=2&SO=Home%20Front:%20Politix

    The key passage:

When I wrote that article, one of the most active participants in the controversy was a resident of Vancouver. In my 兰特堡 article, I remarked:

Jay McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called opendna.com and uses the opendna screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on 每日科斯. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and 温哥华,不列颠哥伦比亚省. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing 每日科斯 blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

opendna posted on his photobucket album two versions of a “Certification of Live Birth” document image … Both have a common visual signature (a dot that appears on all four images) with the images posted on the 每日科斯 site image that the Obama campaign has endorsed as genuine on its “Fight the Smears” website …..

One image created and posted by opendna is what he describes as a “blank template” of a State of Hawaii Certification of Live Birth. Only two data fields are filled in: the ISLAND OF BIRTH (“Oahu”) and the HOUR OF BIRTH (7:24 PM). ….. However, the ISLAND OF BIRTH and the HOUR OF BIRTH is identical on the “Haye I.B Ahphorgerie” and blank certificates as well as the purported “Obama birth certificate,” which also claims 7:24 pm as the HOUR OF BIRTH and Oahu as the ISLAND OF BIRTH. The odds of an identical time occurring by chance in two certificates is 1440 to 1. ….

Anyway, I spent a lot of time and effort trying to connect Obama’s birth to Canada. It was my one chance in my life to become famous. I failed and so remain unknown.

    ---

I praise Donald Trump for establishing a precedent that Presidential candidates should be willing to provide birth records to the electorate. After all, the US Constitution requires that the US President be a natural-born citizen. .

Despite that Constitutional requirement, practically all Scientific Progressives argued adamantly that Obama’s birth certificate — a one-page state-government civil-registry document from the year 1961 — must be kept permanently away from the public’s inspection. Obama himself tried to establish and maintain a precedent enabling himself and all future Presidential candidates to keep such state-government civil-registry birth documents secret if the candidates are Scientific Progressives.

It was because of Trump that a different precedent is established now. From now on, all Presidential candidates will be expected to release their birth certificates to the public if there is any doubt that the candidates satisfy the US Constitution’s requirement that all Presidents be natural-born citizens.

I’ve had 3 govt jobs, and at all of them, even working for the parks department for minimum wage as 16 year old, they needed to make a copy of my original birth certificate. How could the highest office of govt. not require the same, especially when birth information is the only eligibility requirement?

Suggestions of laws requiring a BC for future presidents were always met with “you’re a conspiratard”, “that’s racist”, etc., so I’m sure those same people are petitioning all federal, state, and city agencies to get the birth certificate validation removed for all employees, right?

Back when Uncle Sam was slinging cash like a drunken fratboy during the heyday of Compassionate Conservatism, I cashed in on it, briefly, as a contractor (talk about feeling dirty). I never needed my birth certificate, and I had a low-level security clearance. I was supposed to give my certificate, with the raised seal, but I never got around to giving it, and it wasn't an issue. I still got paid. That said, the background check form was pretty thorough. AFter that, why would they even need a birth certificate? A somewhat quaint requirement, you ask me.

Maybe if you go through the traditional cursus honorum you need all the docs, but for politicians and contractors it's different.

Further back than that, well, there’s no evidence of any black ancestry, but the odds against any currently measurable trace of black ancestry being lost due to genetic reshuffling of the deck is less overwhelming.

Basically, it's "chunky", you only have 46 chromosomes, so once you get back a few generations it's quite likely you'll not have a chromosome from an ancestor.

You are guaranteed to have 23 chromosomes from each parent, so if say your mom is sub-saharan (or any other clearly identifiable racial--"population"--group) that is detectable.

However, that's the end of the guarantees. It's possible--though extremely unlikely--to not have any chromosomes from a grandparent. But it requires every one of 23 to have been from the other grandparent so (1/2**23)--about one chance in 8 million.

Great-grandparents should average only six chromosomes each, missing a particular one (3/4**23) ~ one in a thousand. Great-great-grandparents--only averaging 3 chromosomes each--missing a particular one (7/8**23) their mentioned 5% chance.

As Steve mentions beyond that as the "miss chance" for a particular ancestor approaches 1, the odds just aren't that odd. Great-great-great grandparent--you have 32 of them, and they'd only be "entitled" to one chromosome--missing chromosomes from a particular one (15/16**23) 23%. (You're almost certain to have no chromosomes from some of them.)

    ~~

Of course, it isn't as chunky as this binary model. Gene swapping during meiosis means chromosomes are carrying genes from the other parent (than the chromosome came from).
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_recombination
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosomal_crossover

That creates much more likelihood of some genes on some chromosome from more ancestors. But if there are identifiable segments that are "sub-saharan" on a particular chromosome it also increases likelihood of those being deleted from a chromosome of sub-saharan ancestry. I.e. you can have a particular sub-saharan marker swapped into a chromosome mostly inherited from a non-subsaharan ancestor. But you can also have a sub-saharan marker on a chromosome from a sub-saharan ancestor whacked by say European genes swapped in. Overall the binary math keeps grinding away at a single outlying ancestral contribution.

I would guess that the further two ancestral populations are apart, then the more genes that tend to specifically identify one population vs. another, and hence the easier to identify the presence of an ancestor from an outlying group from just swapped in genes--even if they don't have on of "their" chromosomes present. And hence more "resolution"--more capability to detect racially disparate ancestors further back into the past. But i'm not a gene or biology guy.

But even if those are not considered arguable, there was (not necessarily in order) the anti-German hysteria accompanying the US entry into the war, the postwar race riots, the Palmer raids, the Red Scare, the arrests and imprisonment of Debs and others, and Prohibition.

I guess I wouldn't put Womens' suffrage on the list, but I'm pretty sure there was a positive correlation between that and Prohibition.

Perhaps the birth certificate issue was put out there to distract from the more fundamental Constitutional question of whether the child of a British subject at his birth can legally be POTUS. In Acts and in many of his epistles St. Paul emphasized that he was a practicing Jew and a Pharisee, a student of Gamaliel, who in turn was a student of Hillel. Among other things, Paul believed that Jesus's ressurection was a final confirmation of the Pharissaic belief in the ressurection of the body and a life after death.

Professor Jacob Neusner has demonstrated fairly conclusively based on NT and Talmudic sources, Josephus, and other textual evidence that the Pharisees were probably the forerunners of later Rabinnic Judaism. Thus, through Gamaliel, Paul has strong links to both of the Jewish-based religions that survived the Roman destruction of the Temple-based cult.

There is no solid evidence that Hitler had any Jewish ancestry. The rumors that Alois Hitler's father was Jewish have never been substantiated. The junk genetics study (thus described by Razib Khan) from a few years ago attempted to imply a connection based on the fact that some of Hitler's paternal relatives belong to Y chromosome haplogroup E3b (aka E1b1b). However, we don't even know for sure that those people are related to Alois or Adolf Hitler because of the uncertainty surrounding his paternity. In addition, that haplogroup is found all over Europe at low frequencies and at higher frequencies in Southeast Europe. Most of the E3b lineages currently extant in Europe most likely descend from Neolithic migrants from the Middle East who arrived in Southeast Europe 8000-10.000 years ago.

  23. Objectively, Harding’s brief term before his sudden death (1921-1923) appears to have, indeed, put the country on the road to “normalcy” just like promised, but the important thing, as we’ve all been taught, is that “normalcy” isn’t a real word. So who cares about peace and prosperity, what matter is spelling.

Harding isn’t talked or written about that much, but on those rare occasions where he is referenced by mainstream liberal historians, usually in passing in the context of a discussion about the other prominent presidents of that period like Wilson, Hoover, FDR, etc., it’s to suggest that he was an idiot for using “normalcy”, and to intimate that he was probably somewhat responsible for the Great Depression.

  24. It’s in connection with Warren G. that I first heard the expression, “A touch of the tarbrush.” Politically incorrect today, it’s quite evocative.

Harding was to trusting of some cronies, who dipped their beaks shamefully and got caught, but after the odious Wilson was a breath of fresh air. I put him, Coolidge, and Cleveland in my top ten.

  25. Harding’s contemporaries were incensed by the Teapot Dome scandal because political corruption was a matter taken much more seriously in the 1920’s than it is today. Obviously, graft was common enough even then, but the perpetrators were usually careful not to be too obvious about it. In 2015, Teapot Dome-level corruption is just business as usual. Between naked war profiteering during the Younger Bush administration, and the shameless quid pro bribery sustaining the Clinton Foundation, the 21st-century public are too jaded to care, nor do they expect any better.

  26. There is not one shed of evidence that Stanley Ann Dunham was Barry’s mother, that she was ever pregnant or gave birth. Not even the odd snapshot. Maybe Pops was really Pops.

I can’t speak for Steve, but:

America’s entry into the war was somewhat problematic, so was Wilson’s posturing about the League of Nations, and the final peace.

But even if those are not considered arguable, there was (not necessarily in order) the anti-German hysteria accompanying the US entry into the war, the postwar race riots, the Palmer raids, the Red Scare, the arrests and imprisonment of Debs and others, and Prohibition.

I guess I wouldn’t put Womens’ suffrage on the list, but I’m pretty sure there was a positive correlation between that and Prohibition.

    回复:@AnotherDad

Further back than that, well, there’s no evidence of any black ancestry, but the odds against any currently measurable trace of black ancestry being lost due to genetic reshuffling of the deck is less overwhelming.

Basically, it’s “chunky”, you only have 46 chromosomes, so once you get back a few generations it’s quite likely you’ll not have a chromosome from an ancestor.

You are guaranteed to have 23 chromosomes from each parent, so if say your mom is sub-saharan (or any other clearly identifiable racial–“population”–group) that is detectable.

However, that’s the end of the guarantees. It’s possible–though extremely unlikely–to not have any chromosomes from a grandparent. But it requires every one of 23 to have been from the other grandparent so (1/2**23)–about one chance in 8 million.

Great-grandparents should average only six chromosomes each, missing a particular one (3/4**23) ~ one in a thousand. Great-great-grandparents–only averaging 3 chromosomes each–missing a particular one (7/8**23) their mentioned 5% chance.

As Steve mentions beyond that as the “miss chance” for a particular ancestor approaches 1, the odds just aren’t that odd. Great-great-great grandparent–you have 32 of them, and they’d only be “entitled” to one chromosome–missing chromosomes from a particular one (15/16**23) 23%. (You’re almost certain to have no chromosomes from some of them.)

    ~~

Of course, it isn’t as chunky as this binary model. Gene swapping during meiosis means chromosomes are carrying genes from the other parent (than the chromosome came from).
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_recombination
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosomal_crossover

That creates much more likelihood of some genes on some chromosome from more ancestors. But if there are identifiable segments that are “sub-saharan” on a particular chromosome it also increases likelihood of those being deleted from a chromosome of sub-saharan ancestry. I.e. you can have a particular sub-saharan marker swapped into a chromosome mostly inherited from a non-subsaharan ancestor. But you can also have a sub-saharan marker on a chromosome from a sub-saharan ancestor whacked by say European genes swapped in. Overall the binary math keeps grinding away at a single outlying ancestral contribution.

I would guess that the further two ancestral populations are apart, then the more genes that tend to specifically identify one population vs. another, and hence the easier to identify the presence of an ancestor from an outlying group from just swapped in genes–even if they don’t have on of “their” chromosomes present. And hence more “resolution”–more capability to detect racially disparate ancestors further back into the past. But i’m not a gene or biology guy.

Apropos your comments about the controversy over Barak Obama's birth certificate, I'd just like to remind you and your readers of the following: While that controversy was still bubbling away, the new governor-elect of Hawaii, a Democrat and political ally of Obama, announced that one of his first acts after taking his oath of office would be to track down Obama's birth certificate and put an end to all the silly rumors. At the time this was front page news across the country. When called on this months later, Hawaii's new governor was forced to make an embarassed statement to the effect that he was having trouble accessing the document but as soon as he did so he'd settle the issue.

I am quite familiar with this country's birth registration system(s).

Certain oddities with Obama's Social Security Number also suggest something unusual is going on. Like so many aspects of Mr. Obama's existence there has been no concerted effort to investigate exactly what is going on. Attempts to bring the matter to the public's attention, e.g., by Sheriff Arpaio, are ignored. Any informed, thoughtful person should be suspicious.

Under a previous ISteve article, titled “Obama: The Indonesian Connection”, I posted a series of comments about the birth certificate and the Subud religion.

In the following days, Abercrombie was interviewed by the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and by CNN. In those interviews, he promised to resolve the public’s concerns about President Obama’s birth certificate. …

    [...]

... political bias and a lot of other reasons can cause people to get off track, as we saw with Donald Trump’s obsession a few years ago with Barack Obama’s birth certificate. It was always pretty obvious that if Obama’s mother was in Hawaii in late 1960, she probably wasn’t in some foreign country when he was born in 1961, especially not Kenya which is a long, long way from Hawaii.

For a while, I entertained the idea that Stanley Ann Dunham traveled to Canada to give birth. I wrote an article titled "Was Barack Obama Born in Canada?" which was published by 兰特堡 七月5,2008。

    http://www.rantburg.com/index.php?D=07/05/2008&HC=2&SO=Home%20Front:%20Politix

    The key passage:

Canada is not far from Mercer Island. For example, Saanich, Canada, is only about 75 miles away. Vancouver, Canada is only about 100 miles away. A few days after the birth, she could easily and quickly travel from Barak's birthplace in nearby Canada to Mercer Island to show her new baby off to her amazed high-school friends.

He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing 每日科斯 blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

opendna posted on his photobucket album two versions of a "Certification of Live Birth" document image ... Both have a common visual signature (a dot that appears on all four images) with the images posted on the 每日科斯 site image that the Obama campaign has endorsed as genuine on its "Fight the Smears" website .....

One image created and posted by opendna is what he describes as a "blank template" of a State of Hawaii Certification of Live Birth. Only two data fields are filled in: the ISLAND OF BIRTH ("Oahu") and the HOUR OF BIRTH (7:24 PM). ..... However, the ISLAND OF BIRTH and the HOUR OF BIRTH is identical on the "Haye I.B Ahphorgerie" and blank certificates as well as the purported "Obama birth certificate," which also claims 7:24 pm as the HOUR OF BIRTH and Oahu as the ISLAND OF BIRTH. The odds of an identical time occurring by chance in two certificates is 1440 to 1. ....

Anyway, I spent a lot of time and effort trying to connect Obama's birth to Canada. It was my one chance in my life to become famous. I failed and so remain unknown.

    ---------

I praise Donald Trump for establishing a precedent that Presidential candidates should be willing to provide birth records to the electorate. After all, the US Constitution requires that the US President be a natural-born citizen. .

Despite that Constitutional requirement, practically all Scientific Progressives argued adamantly that Obama's birth certificate -- a one-page state-government civil-registry document from the year 1961 -- must be kept permanently away from the public's inspection. Obama himself tried to establish and maintain a precedent enabling himself and all future Presidential candidates to keep such state-government civil-registry birth documents secret if the candidates are Scientific Progressives.

It was because of Trump that a different precedent is established now. From now on, all Presidential candidates will be expected to release their birth certificates to the public if there is any doubt that the candidates satisfy the US Constitution's requirement that all Presidents be natural-born citizens.

In Acts and in many of his epistles St. Paul emphasized that he was a practicing Jew and a Pharisee, a student of Gamaliel, who in turn was a student of Hillel. Among other things, Paul believed that Jesus’s ressurection was a final confirmation of the Pharissaic belief in the ressurection of the body and a life after death.

Yet historians consider Roosevelt a great president and Harding a bad one.

Trump and others barked up the wrong tree with the birth certificate issue. While it is highly unlikely that BO was not born in Hawaii, it is more than likely that there was something on his birth certificate he did not want publicized. It goes along with his extensive and expensive efforts to hide all the records of his life prior to entering politics.

Ron Mexico

Perhaps the birth certificate issue was put out there to distract from the more fundamental Constitutional question of whether the child of a British subject at his birth can legally be POTUS. These same questions faced Chester Arthur, born to a British subject, and “mysteriously” his personal records were destroyed. Maybe Trump had some real evidence on Obummer and a deal was made concerning the 2016 election?

I can't speak for Steve, but:

America's entry into the war was somewhat problematic, so was Wilson's posturing about the League of Nations, and the final peace.

And let's not forget Wilson's stroke and the conspiracy theories that generated.

I defended birthers, not because of any specific dislike for Obama, but because I found it a bit hard to believe that a valid birth certificate wasn't already required for a president. I've had 3 govt jobs, and at all of them, even working for the parks department for minimum wage as 16 year old, they needed to make a copy of my original birth certificate. How could the highest office of govt. not require the same, especially when birth information is the only eligibility requirement?

Suggestions of laws requiring a BC for future presidents were always met with "you're a conspiratard", "that's racist", etc., so I'm sure those same people are petitioning all federal, state, and city agencies to get the birth certificate validation removed for all employees, right?

I am quite familiar with this country's birth registration system(s).

At my sophomoric level, “Gannibal the Cannibal” is funny. Memory served to remind that JD wrote something about translations of Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin. Abram Petrovic Gannibal was, of course, the great-grandfather of Pushkin, as well as the subject of a book by the latter, “Peter the Great’s Negro.”

Not sure what to do with the fact that “Onegin” rhymes with “Reagan” and like my former classmate at TR Roosevelt High School, Jim Janos aka Jesse “The Body” Ventura, something like that star of “Predator,” “I ain’t got time to” rhyme other than –

Barak Obama could be the bastard child of George H. W. Bush and Madame Mao; it would not matter, the Left would love him. Clinton demonstrated that screwing a catatonic Bonobo does not diminish the reverence in which the Left holds him.

If Barack were a zombie gnawing on the skulls of unwitting visitors to the White House the Left would lionize him as a “futuristic, forward-thinking visionary, misrepresented and misunderstood” and the victims would be marginalized, disparaged or ignored.

We are faced with opponents impervious to reason, devoid of human perspective beyond the mind-numbed echo chamber of the Left, emotionally invested in lies and vicious in their reactionary responses. “You won’t bake my cake? I will not only take your means of making an honest living baking, I’ll take your house too.”

But their assumption is that their treasonous perfidy is cost free. The French aristocrats of the eighteen century entertained the same illusion.

Today, we have Rachel Dolezal and Shaun King. A big time political candidate who is marginally black is going to go to the front of the line and straight to the podium.

I don’t know why blacks today wanted to take credit for Warren Harding. He was indeed so corrupt that they had to screw him into the ground in order to bury him.

I stand by my (and Khan's) assessment of that paper. The frequency and distribution of haplogroup E3b / E1b1b throughout the world is well known to population geneticists and interested amateurs with some genetics background. The authors of the paper probably know, but they and the writers of the 每日邮件 article were going for shock value. Truth was less important to them. And they analyzed samples from paternal "relatives" who may not even be genetically related to Hitler or his father because Alois' parentage is uncertain. In other words, just because those people have E3b Y chromosomes doesn't prove that Hitler did. You should stick to pizzas. You know a lot more about them than about genetics.

What I took away from that Hitler relative DNA study was that he was in fact related to putative Gentile paternal cousins in Austria today, which would mean that he was not the grandson of the Jewish Leopold Frankenberg as Hans Frank said.
