The US foreign policy establishment has for decades been dominated by neoconservative interventionists and falsely-named “humanitarian” interventionists. These people believe that because the United States is the one “exceptional nation,” no conflict anywhere in the world could possibly be solved without our butting our noses into it.

One of President Obama’s few foreign policy successes was to work with European countries on a deal that would see a reduction of sanctions on Iran in exchange for a series of Iranian moves demonstrating its abandonment of a nuclear weapon.

The American neocons as well as the hardliners in Saudi Arabia and Israel were furious at the compromise, but for a couple of years it showed real promise. Trade between Europe and Iran was increasing and there was no evidence that Iran was reneging on its obligations. Even American companies were looking to Iran for business opportunities. Whenever goods flow between nations, war becomes less likely.

President Trump has had problems with policy consistency throughout his first term in office. But, unfortunately, his few policy consistencies have been the most ill-advised ones. On the campaign trail Trump relentlessly attacked Obama’s Iran policy and promised to pull the US out of the JCPOA Iran agreement.

Unfortunately for America, he followed through with this policy in 2018. Though he promised that by pulling out of the deal the US would get a far better deal in its place, the truth is Trump’s Iran policy has produced nothing but negative results. The Iranians have not knuckled down under the weight of Pompeo’s pressure, and putting regime change specialists like Elliot Abrams in charge of Iran policy has just moved us closer to an unnecessary war.

Iran is not a threat to the United States, no matter what lies the neocons put forth.

These past two weeks the weakness in the US “maximum pressure” policy toward Iran has been exposed for the world to see. First, Pompeo spent the summer lobbying European nations to support a US motion in the UN Security Council to extend an arms embargo against Iran. As Iran has been judged in compliance with the Iran deal, the arms embargo is scheduled to be lifted in October. Pompeo’s diplomatic skills did not produce the desired results: not a single party to the Iran nuclear deal voted with the US to extend the embargo.

Undeterred, the Trump Administration is now determined to trigger the “snap-back” sanctions on Iran, which means if Iran is judged to be in violation of the Iran nuclear agreement all the previous sanctions would snap back into place.

But there’s a problem with this: because the US has formally withdrawn from the Iran agreement it has no legal standing to trigger the “snap-back” of UN sanctions on Iran. If you take your marbles and go home, you don’t get to still dictate the rules of the game.

Last week Pompeo attempted to trigger the “snap-back” and was laughed out of the room by the countries who have remained in the deal.

US policy toward Iran is an unwise consistency and the Trump Administration is hopelessly floundering on the bad advice of the neocons. They want nothing more than war on Iran. But the American people do not. It’s time to end this failed policy of confrontation with Iran.

Yes, but Ron, Iran is a danger to Israel and makes it a threat to America.

Pro-tip: If you want to show the War on Terror was a war for Israel, bring up a map of the Middle East and then ask what country is sandwiched between Iraq and Afghanistan. After that, ask which country is the biggest threat to Jew-Town.

The people rarely want war. The elites often want war. The Zionist gurus always want war. And the fact that Dems are as compromised as Republicans (by Jewish money and liberal media propagandists) shows that both parties will push for war, when push comes to shove.

Obama gave the Zionists Libya and tried to give them Syria, and thought that would be enough. What a sick, corrupt liberal jackass, no less sick and corrupt than Trump, and actually more so. If Trump goes to war with Iran, he will outdo Obama. Until he goes to war with Iran, Bush-Clinton-BushII-Obama have easily outdone Trump as the lowest belly crawlers for Zionists and their evil filthy lucre.

I might add that since 9/11, all have been a party to treason. These belly crawlers are what passes for leadership in whored out America.

  4. There’s nothing to surprise me here. Washington’s treatment of Iran is Exhibit A for the fact that US foreign policy is based largely on the unspoken maxim that there is only one sovereign nation in the world, as I’ve written about in detail here:

    https://www.twilightpatriot.com/2020/01/there-is-only-one-sovereign-nation.html

It’s one thing to say that Congress has power to prohibit trade between the US and Iran (it does, according to Article I of the constitution). It’s another thing to say that anybody, anywhere in the world, who does business with an Iranian is in danger of arrest and extradition to the United States. Too many Americans don’t realize that the latter is how modern sanctions work. When you’re the richest and most powerful country in the world, you can get away with it, but not forever.

  5. Iran is not a threat to the United States, no matter what lies the neocons put forth.

No, but if the US keeps jerking them around, it might become one.

  6. ‘Pompeo’s Iran Failures Make War More Likely’

From Pompeo’s point of view, wouldn’t that make them Iran 成功?

You don’t understand. Like our Israeli masters, international laws and treaties can be broken or reinterpreted at will if it suits us and that’s what the U.S. is doing in this case. Even though we pulled out of the JCPOA we still expect Iran to hew to the provisions that we find agreeable. Or else. Because we’re exceptional and they’re not.

I believe if Trump wins re-election there could be hot war with Iran. But of course, Biden is a huge shabbos goy himself so he will also deliver a war. Or if Biden is too senile then Kamoulinyan “it was a debate” Harris will gladly sign off on war for tens of millions of shekels in a Swiss bank account.

Pompeo / Trump are working hard to put maximum pressure on Iran, and threatening to sanction anyone who dare to disobey US orders. That would ensure most companies in the world (EU, Japan, Korea,…) hesitate to invest in Iran, to do businesses with Iran, or to sell weapons to them – except companies from China and Russia. So Pompeos’ actions would make Chinese and Russian companies very happy: less competitions, more profits.

Who says Trump is not a Chinese / Russian agent?

read your essay.. very well written and precise… I have to say that you make one glaring error in your analysis… there is one sovereign nation in the world but it is not the USA… It is the zionist abomination by the fake jews that is trying to usher in their fake mossiach messiah. Genocide, murder, pedophilia blackmail, printing money out of thin air and only funneling it to subservient elected officials that sign the vow and take the junket to Israel, false flags are the tools of their devilish trade. They have infiltrated media, arts, finance, academia and are the prime movers behind homosexual deviance and violent marxist antifa and blm. We are just their whore bitch. Yep. I have no doubt that future historians will cite extra-territoriality as one of the key policies that led to the failure of US hegemony.

‘Iran is a danger to Israel? How?’

There always has to be ‘a danger’ to Israel — i.e., an external enemy at the gates to provide the glue necessary for the illusion of nationhood to persist. No enemy, no Israel. The place would fall apart; its inhabitants share far too little.

So there has to be an enemy. Once upon a time, the role was played by Egypt. Then there was Iraq. Now, it’s Iran.

Should Iran be somehow subverted or reduced to anarchy, there would just have to be someone else. Turkey? Bait the Palestinians until they rise up again?

不管。 有人 always has to play the part.

Does Trump even set policy? He knows little about international relations. He relies on the extremists in his ear. I will give him one thing – he didnt let Bolton start wars that he wanted to.

  13. “每当商品在国家之间流动时,发生战争的可能性就会减小。”
    但是,当竞争国家的商业利益发生冲突时,战争就变得更有可能了。 如果找不到妥协,最终将不可避免。 伊朗是北京和华盛顿在霸权斗争中的战线之一。 这是有关制造业工作的斗争。 大国可以抛弃其原则,而不能抛弃其经济。 历史警告说,利益有时必须为了生存而受到损害。

Our last Constitutional President, 约翰·F·肯尼迪 attempted to disarm them (of their Nuclear weapons they were creating in South Africa, & their Poison Gas). The sad fact is that whereas the French Army surrendered to the German Army that was shooting at them, our American Citizens willingly wear masks, walk following arrow directions, vote in a Hollywood facade of an election, bend over upon command, and are getting ready for that Flue Shot-upon request. One of President Obama’s few foreign policy successes was to work with European countries on a deal that would see a reduction of sanctions on Iran in exchange for a series of Iranian moves demonstrating its abandonment of a nuclear weapon.

While it was a foreign policy success, it had nothing to do with “a nuclear weapon”.
Iran is an NPT signatory. Under the NPT, a country, other than the 5 weapons producing countries at the time of the NPT, pledges to pursue nuclear technology solely for peaceful purposes, in exchange, they will be assisted in that development.

There is no credible evidence that Iran, post revolution, has ever had nuclear weapons program, or was even interested in one. Khomeini prohibited them and Khamenei re-issued the ban. We are supposed to believe that the Ayatollahs are dictators, but their bans aren’t followed by the minions. The “laptop found in the airport” containing the alleged weapons program was never convincing beyond being yet another Israeli false flag. The CIA has, many times, stated that there is no evidence of a weapons program, only Israel keeps finding “proof”. Iran has, voluntarily, submitted to the most invasive IAEA inspection regime ever. While there have been minor issues identified, none have anything to do with a weapons program.

Why was Obama’s deal a success? Well, for starters, it legitimizes the UN sanctions, which were illegal in the first place, as they violated the NPT, and deflects the US’s own non-compliance for it’s “missing” nukes.
Second, and more importantly, it limited enrichment to 5%, which meant that Iran could not compete in the radio pharmaceutical sales needed for Nuclear Medicine and research. There had been a shortage since Canada, the world’s biggest producer, had a reactor problem, and shut down production. Canada announced withdrawal from production completely, before Obama was elected. This is a multi billion dollar market that benefits Israel and the US nuclear industries while the JCPOA is in place.
Far from being a “bad” deal for the US, it is a fabulous deal for the US and its nuclear industry. The deal is “bad” for Israel because it effectively shut down the Nutty-yahoo Cartoon Bomb Show, which brought their Eretz Yisroel project back into limelight.

  20. Jokem 说:

I have to contend with Dr Paul on this.

I simply do not believe Iran is opposed to developing a nuclear weapon(s).

Barack Obama made a treaty with them, a nation hostile to this country, which we do not have diplomatic relations, without approval of the Senate.

    Isn’t that Treason?
