纳迪姆·哈克(Nadeem Haque) discusses his new book (with Al-Hafiz B.A. Masri and Mehran Banaei) Ecolibrium: The Sacred Balance in Islam. Nadeem writes: “Islam is regarded in the Quran (its primary textual source) as a natural belief system founded on nature (in Arabic: fitrah). Furthermore, in the Quran, nature is spoken of profusely, not only as a pointer to God (a singular non-anthropomorphic ‘non-localized entity’) but also as a source of sustainability for all creatures that inhabit this vast universe. To this extent, Ecolibrium shows that the Quranic system does not separate the ‘religious’ from the ‘sacred’, for everything is sacred in the sense that it is honoured and respected as the creation of God. What is more, is that the Quran is centralized on the concept of al-mizan (the Arabic word for ‘the balance/equilibrium’). The book illustrates that this key concept is essential to realizing the Equigenic Principle as a corrective for destructive human behaviour that is creating havoc on the Earth. The Equigenic Principle is defined and illustrated as the fulcrum for three other ‘ecognitions’ (ecological recognitions): ‘Ownership of God’, ‘Sentient Species Communities’ and ‘Personhood’.”

  1. (…) everything is sacred in the sense that it is honoured and respected as the creation of God

Let’s first agree on a very essential point: As Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Khadr has it, “(…) the division of Islam into ‘moderate Islam’ and ‘radical Islam’ has no basis in Islam – neither in its doctrines and rulings, nor in its understandings or reality”, in: “Radical” vs. “Moderate” Islam: A 穆斯林 视图, https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/8101/radical-moderate-islam — this of course is corroborated on a great number of (the > 7000) pages in the “Inârah” collection I now have complete; so for instance on pp 150-151 of Die Ensttehung einer Weltreligion VI: “Diese Fundamental-Abschnitte des frühen abbasidischen Koran befassen sich hauptsächlich mit Themen um den ğihâd ‘auf dem Pfad Gottes’, die Pohlmann ‘活动家‘ nennt und die die ‘medinesischen’ Suren kennzeichnen / These fundamental divisions of the early abbasidic qur’ân essentially treat about themes relating to the ğihâd ‘on the path of God’, that Pohlmann calls ‘活动家‘ and that characterize the ‘medinese’ sourates”. Any single one of the more than 42.000 deadly Islamic attacks perpetrated since 9/11 (https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/ ) is in full accordance with the very essential teachings of Islam. Emphasis (bold) mine.

As I repeatedly have written about the complete inexistence of any “nabi Muhammad” (for instance under https://www.unz.com/jderbyshire/american-born-muslim-stabbing-rushdie-reveals-threat-of-absimilation-assimilation-in-reverse/#comment-5509060 ) I now can dispense with further elaborations.

  2. Then why has islam never behaved in accordance with nature?
    例如:
    种族主义在达尔文主义的斗争中站在你自己一边。
Yet islam itself claims to reject race & racism for a universalist umma/melting pot/sewer.
Likewise, do you think its natural to engage in pedophilia?
Your ‘perfect man’ mo-ham-head quite liked it.
Your desert cult is as far removed from nature & Natural Laws as tranny-story-hour at a primary school (you do have shared interests).
Nature is sacred truth, so what do we need the koran for?
Natural Law is the will of any god that may exist so what do we need prophets for?
    inB4:
TrUE iSLamE HaZ NevAR BEen TriEDDD!!!!
    – You have had more than enough time to show us all what you are made of.
    Contents beats label, muslim.

“Racism is taking your own side in Darwinian struggle.” That kind of dumbed-down 1st-grade-bully misinterpretation of evolutionary theory is a dead end. Jonas Alexis explains:

Serious Darwinists agree that objective morality is an illusion. The noted biology philosopher Michael Ruse once again said that “there are no grounds whatsoever for being good…. Morality is flimflam.”Yet like his intellectual antecedent Charles Darwin, Ruse ends up contradicting himself in the very next sentence by saying,

“Does this mean that you can just go out and rape and pillage, behave like an ancient Roman grabbing Sabine women? Not at all. I said that there are no grounds for being good. It doesn’t follow that you should be bad.”

Well, duh! If there are no grounds for objective morality, then good and bad are also illusion. And if good and bad are just illusion, then Nietzsche’s transvaluation of all values is the next logical step. What is good for you may not be good for me, and there is no way of adjudicating competing explanations. In that kind of world, might makes right.

So…Since morality is an illusion, you might as well be evil—you’ll get more power and pleasure that way, if you’re smart about it. And for the really “serious Darwinian,” meaning, too, is an illusion. Life is 100% meaningless and 99% suffering, so rather than bothering to be evil, you might as well just kill yourself.

See what I mean about that philosophy being a dead end?

More sophisticated interpretations of evolutionary biology like those of Lynn Margulis and Josh Mitteldorf (search my radio shows for those names) won’t lead you so far astray. Cooperation, including sacrificing the smaller self for the larger community (and the even larger community of communities, etc.) is baked into evolutionary biology at every level, and can’t be explained by the neo-Darwinian “selfish gene” theory, which has now been thoroughly discredited.

So in short, evolutionary theory, properly understood, does NOT force you to be a miserable asshole— which (insha’allah) should cheer you up immensely ; – )

  4. @Kevin Barrett

Life is 100% meaningless and 99% suffering

That’s an assertion as unprovable as “Life is 100% meaningful and 1% suffering”. Now what?

  5. @Ted Bundys Crotch

what do we need the koran for?

…after reading more than 7000 pages consecrated to the subject [and, not to forget, before the “Inârah” series was commenced, I already had read Blachère, Cusanus, Corbin, Grousset, Arnaldez, Kalisky, Kepel, Belloc and Goldziher] I am still at a loss as to that question. My private guess ist that the qur’ân is the most useless of all “sacred” books ever written.

  6. dimples 说:

One can only wonder how many converts Dr Kev has made with his endless prosetylizing. Is it one or two that have been drawn into the holy folds of Allah’s burka? Or none? Can they speak up please.

  7. the holy folds of Allah’s burka

a burka is for women… – I would caution you to characterize “Allah” (quotation marks) as such

  8. I’m a definite Islamophobe, but I will listen to Barret because I wish to see all people as being human. It was the same with Linh Dinh, he is definitely a human being like Barret, according to what he wrote. There remains some people who are either animal or demonic. Guess what I think about Biden or our own Cyril Ramaphosa?

I’m glad you will listen and hopefully get a chance to read the synopsis of the book on Graham Hancock’s website, and perhaps the book itself: https://grahamhancock.com/haquen3/#comment-20654.

I trust that you are from South Africa. I am African by birth too (Uganda) and one of the co-author’s of Ecolibrium (Masri); my late grandfather was not only a pioneer in the field of animal rights/ecology and Islam but also helped the independence movements of Uganda, Kenya and Tanganyika. By Jan. 2023, the re-publication of Animals in Islam (by Lantern, New York) will happen and it will be available on Amazon. In it, there’s an amazing photograph of Masri, Nyerere (Tanganyika), Tom Mboya (who would most likely have led Kenya were he not assassinated) and Masri’s Ugandan Colleague (Shafiq Arain). Masri founded the political party with Milton Obote, the President of Uganda. Also, concerning Africa, please see this book where my chapter has been published by University of South Africa Press: https://rainerebert.com/2018/06/25/rainer-ebert-anteneh-roba-africa-and-her-animals-pretoria-unisa-press-2018/

Thank you, I’m South African, born in Namibia back when it was called South West Africa. Part of my family once settled in Angola, they were descendants of the Thirstland Trek through the Namib desert. I will certainly follow your suggestions. African history is a million fascinating stories and more, I feel no regrets about living here.
